A Scalingo alternative for Laravel teams.
Scalingo is a French, Heroku-style platform: buildpacks, a Procfile and managed databases, hosted in France on 3DS Outscale, with ISO 27001 and HDS. Brewless is European too, but deploys your Laravel app into your own Scaleway and bunny.net accounts, as serverless containers that can stop when nobody visits.

Scalingo and Brewless at a glance
| Topic | Scalingo | Brewless |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Scalingo SAS, Strasbourg, France. | Coding Agency, Meppel, the Netherlands. |
| How your app runs | A container platform-as-a-service with buildpacks, a Procfile and a built-in autoscaler. | Serverless containers: your app starts with traffic and stops when it is quiet. There are no servers to manage. |
| Whose account | Scalingo’s own platform. | Yours: your own Scaleway project and bunny.net account. Brewless is the control plane and is not in the path of your visitors. |
| Infrastructure | 3DS Outscale in Paris, France, with a SecNumCloud-qualified region on request. | Scaleway (France) for your app, bunny.net (Slovenia) for the edge in front of it. Both European companies. |
| Regions in Europe | Paris (osc-fr1), and osc-secnum-fr1 on request. | Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw and Milan. |
| Scales to zero | No: its pricing page says containers never sleep, and its autoscaler keeps at least two. | Yes, when you set the minimum to zero. |
| Price | Per minute, by container size and number of containers, plus database plans. 30-day free trial. | Free to try with one application. Paid plans from €15 a month, with unlimited environments on every plan. Scaleway and bunny.net bill you directly, and Brewless takes no percentage of that. |
| For Laravel | A Laravel guide: queues in the Procfile, migrations after each deploy, and the scheduler through cron.json or a schedule daemon. | Migrations as their own step in every deploy, queues on Scaleway Queues, the schedule read from your app, Artisan on the live release, and brewless init to start from a vapor.yml. |
What Scalingo does well
- A French company with ISO 27001 and HDS, and a SecNumCloud-qualified region.
- All hosting in France.
- A familiar Heroku-style workflow, with a detailed Laravel guide.
- Billing per minute, and an autoscaler at no extra cost.
Where Brewless is different
Your own accounts
With Brewless, your Scaleway project and bunny.net account are yours and bill you directly. On Scalingo, the platform and the bill are Scalingo’s.
Scale to zero
Brewless containers can stop when nobody visits. Scalingo containers stay on, which suits an app that is always busy.
An edge in front
bunny.net serves your static files and cached pages close to your visitors, from your own account.
Built for Laravel
Brewless reads the schedule from your app and runs migrations as their own step; there is no Procfile to write.
Which one fits?
Pick Scalingo if
- You need HDS or a SecNumCloud-qualified region.
- You like the Heroku workflow and run more than Laravel.
- Your app is busy around the clock.
Pick Brewless if
- You want your infrastructure in your own name.
- You want containers that stop when it is quiet.
- Your apps are Laravel.
Moving from Scalingo to Brewless
Your Procfile maps onto brewless.yml: the web process is handled for you, the migrate after each deploy becomes a release command, and queue:work becomes your queue. The schedule is read from your app. Copy your database to Scaleway, test, then move your domain.
